Woman appears in court over death of Joe O'Brien in Waterford

A woman has been charged with assault causing harm following the death of a man whose body was found in a Waterford apartment on Monday.

Johanna Kelly, 38, of no fixed abode, was charged last night with assaulting Joe O'Brien.

Mr O'Brien, 60, was found dead in an apartment in the Scotch Quay area of Waterford city at about 10pm on Monday night.

Two other people have already been charged in relation to his death.

Pat Keating, 47, of Grattan Quay in Waterford is accused of assault causing serious harm, while 39-year-old Michelle Hynes, of no fixed abode, is charged with assault causing harm.

Ms Kelly was this morning remanded in custody by Judge David Kennedy.

All three accused will next be brought before Waterford District Court on Tuesday 1 May.
