The Orange Order is to get a grant of almost £1m from the European Union to help address the legacy of the Troubles in the Protestant community in Northern Ireland.
The Order says the money will be mainly spent in building confidence among Protestants.
The Orange Order believes the Protestant community in Northern Ireland, particularly along the border and at flashpoint areas in Belfast, suffered disproportionately during the Troubles.
It believes there is an imbalance of weak community infrastructure and low levels of confidence among Protestants and intends to use the £900,000 from a North-South implementation body funded by the EU to redress that inequity.
The project aims to lead marginalised Protestant communities towards reconciliation by understanding how mistrust between the two main communities in Ireland has undermined good relations.
It hopes this will create meaningful cross-community and cross-border strategies aimed at building lasting peace and reconciliation.
