The Occupy Waterford campsite in the city has been dismantled by Waterford City Council.

All structures and tents were removed from their site on the quay beside the Clock Tower.

One homeless person and two juveniles were found in the tents.

Workers for the council discovered an amount of drugs and needles around the campsite.

Gardaí say there were no incidents and no arrests.

Meanwhile, Fine Gael Cllr Emmet O'Halloran has tabled a motion in Cork City Council seeking the removal of Occupy Cork from its site on the city's newest boardwalk on the South mall.

Four small tents and a makeshift wooden kitchen are all that remains on the site, which had been home to over 30 tents.

Four protesters continue to occupy the site.

It will be two weeks before the motion will come before the council for debate.
