A man and a woman have been charged with the murder of Christopher Mackin in Belfast.

The 31-year-old was shot dead in Belfast city centre on Thursday night.

The 40-year-old man and 35-year-old woman were arrested on Friday night.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man who were arrested yesterday in connection with Mr Mackin's death are still in custody.

The PSNI said there was no paramilitary involvement in the shooting, but confirmed the victim was known to police.

Mr Mackin was from the Lower Falls area of the city.

He was in the College Square North area when he was attacked at around 9.30pm.

Several shots were fired and it is believed Mr Mackin was hit up to four times.

He was taken to the nearby Royal Victoria Hospital, where he died a short time later.
