A Turkish court has further remanded in custody a waiter accused of murdering two women from Co Down in Izmir last August.

Recep Cetin is suspected of killing Marion Graham and Kathy Dinsmore in a knife attack at a remote forest overlooking the port city.

Mr Cetin claims he is 17 and says he should be tried in a juvenile, however authorities suspect he may be older and want him tried in an adult court.

Bone marrow tests, which will accurately determine his age, should be available at the next court hearing scheduled for 11 April.

If tried as an adult, and found guilty of the double murder, Mr Cetin would face a much heavier sentence.

Mr Cetin, a waiter at the popular Aegean resort of Kusadasi, was the boyfriend of Shannon Graham, Marion Graham's teenage daughter.

This was his second court appearance in connection with the charges and, as it was a juvenile hearing, there was no media access.

A lawyer representing the victims' families told RTÉ News he expected the April hearing to be decisive regarding how the case would proceed.

Last December, father of the accused Eyup Cetin was also taken into custody by police in relation to the killings.
