A 41-year-old man has been found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter at the Central Criminal Court this afternoon.

Stephen Boyle admitted killing Paul Boyle, 19, at Early's Bar, Leabgarrow, Arranmore Island, Co Donegal on 3 October 2009.

Paul Boyle, who was from the island of Arranmore, was out for a night with his father and friends on 2 October 2009.

Stephen Boyle lived in London but came back and forth to a house he built on the island.

The Central Criminal Court heard that Paul Boyle had for a time worked for Stephen Boyle in London but that the two men did not get on.

There had been a row over money and Paul Boyle believed he was owed €400.

Later that night in Early's Bar, Stephen Boyle attacked the teenager and stabbed him in the neck with a glass.

He died in Letterkenny Hospital the next day.

The 41-year-old has been remanded in custody for sentencing next month.

The court also heard that 522 people lived on Arranmore and this killing had caused immense shock and sadness on the island.
