Two brothers have appeared at the District Court in Limerick in connection with the murder of a man in the city last week.

Sean Flanagan, 26, of Lenihan Avenue in Limerick is charged with the murder of Ger McMahon on 18 January.

His 22-year-old brother Ian Flanagan, of the same address, was charged with impeding the murder investigation on the same date.

Both men were granted legal aid and remanded in custody until next Tuesday, when a bail application will be made for Ian Flanagan.

Mr McMahon died from stab wounds after he was found seriously injured outside a house in Ballinacurra Weston.
