Gardaí are investigating an armed robbery in Dublin in which more than €100,000 was taken.

A van carrying cash for ATMs was robbed at Donaghmede Shopping Centre this morning.

A vehicle thought to have been used in the robbery was found at Howth View Park, Donaghmede.

Two armed men wearing balaclavas took three cash boxes from the security men at around 10.15am.

They escaped with around €120,000 in cash. However, each of the boxes contained pellets and one of them exploded at the scene splashing the money and a raider with dye.

The men drove off in a black 07 4x4 towards Clare Hall in Coolock.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and information.

Today's robbery brings the amount taken in the last week in similar robberies in Dublin and Cork to more than €250,000.
