A 27-year-old Antrim man, who was jailed for the murder of his baby son, has launched an appeal against his conviction.

Ryan Leslie, of Ballyvesey Green, Newtownabbey is serving at least 17 years in prison for murdering his 14-week-old son, Cameron, in September 2008.

During Leslie's trial last February, the jury was told the child had suffered serious injuries while in the care of his father.

The baby's brain had been so swollen that it cut off the oxygen supply to his brain stem.

The infant had also suffered bruising to his arms, legs, torso, throat and chin, and sustained 14 rib fractures.
