Nine students have been arrested after they occupied the constituency office of a Fine Gael TD in Galway city.

The students are all members of ‘Free Education for Everyone Galway’.

They occupied Deputy Brian Walsh's office on Bohermore around midday, with two students climbing onto the roof of the building.

After an hour-long stand-off involving Galway gardaí and a unit of Galway Fire Brigade, the eight men and one woman were forcibly removed from the office,

They are all being detained at Millstreet Garda Station.
