A man has been charged over a fatal road crash in Donegal last year which claimed the lives of eight people.
Shaun Kelly, 22, of Hill Road, Buncrana, appeared at Buncrana District Court this morning charged in relation to the eight deaths at Meenadif in Clonmany on 11 July, 2010.
Seven of those who died were in a Volkswagen Passat, which was driven by Mr Kelly.
Their names were: 21-year-old Mark McLaughlin from Fahan; Paul Doherty and Ciaran Sweeney (both 19) from Ballyliffin; Patrick McLaughlin, 21, from Burnfoot; Eamonn McDaid, 22, Damien McLaughlin, 23, both from Buncrana; and James McEleney, 23, from Clonmany.
66-year-old Hugh Friel from Urris was also killed in the crash. He was on his way home from bingo when he was struck by the car.
Mr Kelly was charged with dangerous driving causing the deaths of all eight men.
He was released on bail and is to appear again before Buncrana Court on 8 December.
