The High Court has appointed an interim examiner to a number of companies in the McSweeney Pharmacy Group.
Declan McDonald of PWC has been appointed on an interim basis.
The group includes pharmacies in Dublin, Sligo, Limerick, Cork, Ennis and Leitrim, as well as a central warehouse in Clondalkin in Dublin and a café in Sligo.
The number of employees in the affected companies is 95.
In 2007, the group had 31 pharmacies, with a turnover of €50m.
It now owes more than €13m to AIB and has sought the protection of the High Court. The petition for examinership was presented yesterday evening.
The court also granted an injunction against the United Drug company after being told they had begun repossessing stock at some pharmacies today.
The judge said that was clearly illegal under examinership legislation. He ordered them to stop and to return all the stock to the shops.
