€1.1m cannabis seizure at Dublin Port

Two men have been arrested following the seizure of drugs worth €1.1m at Dublin Port.

Around 99kg of cannabis resin and 44kg of herbal cannabis were discovered hidden in bags of woodchip and foot tins inside a container, which arrived from Holyhead in Wales this morning.

The truck and trailer were both seized.

The drugs were found during a routine search operation by customs officers and the reaction by a drug detection dog.

The men, one from Britain and the other from Northern Ireland, are being held at Store Street Garda Station.
