Gardai investigating the discovery of the body of a man in Connemara are no longer treating his death as suspicious.

The man has been named locally as Tommy King, a single man in his 50s.

His body was discovered at around 8am by a man out jogging in Rossaveal.

The body was found in a ditch on a boreen in Baile An tSléibhe.

Throughout the day relatives of the dead man gathered at the scene while a garda technical scene carried out an examination of the area.

A full postmortem examination has been carried out at University Hospital Galway and Gardai say they are satisfied that there was nothing unlawful in the manner of his death.
