A man and a woman were taken hostage as part of an attempted post office robbery in Balbriggan, Co Dublin.
A number of men entered a house in the St Andrews Park area of Swords overnight and held the couple hostage.
The woman was then made to go to the post office in Balbriggan, where she was an employee, early this morning.
Gardaí were alerted to the incident and intervened before the robbery took place.
The woman's husband was found unharmed in a field in Swords.
