Gardaí in Galway are continuing to question a man in connection with the murder of the Oughterard publican John Kenny at the weekend.

The man, who is in his 30s, was arrested in Galway city and is being held at Mill Street Station. He can be detained for up to three days.

Gardaí must either charge or release him by 9pm tomorrow night.

Inquiries into the death of the 56-year-old publican and school teacher are continuing.

Gardaí are interviewing people in the village and are awaiting the results of forensic tests which were carried out in the pub on the village's Main Street.

Supt Noel Kelly, who is heading up the investigation, has again appealed to all of the 40 people who were in Kenny's pub on Saturday night to contact the Incident Room at Oughterard Garda Station or any other garda station.
