A number of customers have been assaulted during an armed robbery at a post office in Co Longford.
Two men armed with a shotgun and a sledgehammer entered the post office in Edgeworthstown shortly before 2.30pm.
One of the men broke a security screen and stole a quantity of cash.
A number of customers who were in the post office were assaulted during the raid.
One person was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital at Mullingar, however their injuries are not believed to be serious.
The men left the scene by car.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
