Gardaí in Macroom, Co Cork, are treating the death of a man whose body was found in a house in the town this morning as suspicious.
The body was discovered at the two-storey terraced house at Masseytown a few hundred yards from Macroom town centre.
The dead man was in his 40s and had been living in Macroom for some time.
A preliminary investigation was carried out by Deputy State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster.
A number of injuries were found on the body.
Investigating forensic gardaí spent several hours at the scene and this evening the body was removed to Cork University Hospital where a full post-mortem is to be carried out.
