The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that the 43-year-old man killed in Dominica in the Caribbean last Sunday was originally from Ireland.

Joe Costello, who was born in Dublin, was struck on the head while coming to the aid of friends who were being attacked at a hotel on the island.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
