Gardaí are investigating an armed robbery and a fire at The Players Lounge pub in Fairview, Dublin.
A gang of four men, one armed with a handgun, entered the premises shortly after 2am and tied up the manager.
They took what is claimed to have been €50,000 from the safe.
Two fires were started in the premises and extensive damage was caused to the lounge area.
A number of nearby buildings were evacuated but no injuries were reported.
The scene has been preserved for forensic examination.
The premises is owned by John Stokes, who is the father of Celtic footballer Anthony Stokes.
Over the weekend, the pub was busy because Celtic were playing in the Dublin Super Cup.
The Players Lounge came to national attention in May when John Stokes was ordered to remove a large banner stating that Queen Elizabeth II was not welcome.
Gardaí have appealed for anyone who was in the Fairview Strand area between 2am and 3am and noticed anything suspicious to contact Clontarf Garda Station incident room 01- 6664800, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any garda station.
