Thousands of euro worth of stolen electrical equipment and other items including a fitted kitchen have been recovered by gardaí in Letterkenny.
Gardaí recovered the goods when they searched a house in an operation involving armed gardaí from the Regional Support Unit, local detectives and uniformed gardaí.
Two local youths have been questioned and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
There have been 28 burglaries in the Letterkenny area over the past month.
The haul of property recovered included 16 mobile phones, PlayStations, Nintendo and Xbox consoles, DVD players, two flat-screen TVs, one portable TV, two Sky boxes and cards, seven Sky remotes, three laptops, one digital camera and a microwave oven.
The items also included power tools such as a power drill, jigsaw chainsaw and a mitre saw.
Washing machines, fridge freezers and cookers were also stolen.
Supt Vincent O'Brien said: 'The fitted kitchen was removed from an unoccupied house. Such was the volume of the stolen goods we had to hire a truck to remove them all.'
Supt O'Brien confirmed gardaí subsequently met with concerned residents of the Meadowbank area on Tuesday to discuss 'crime prevention' and the recent finds.
He advised all homeowners to be vigilant and lock all doors and windows and install burglar alarms, security lights or cameras if possible.
As a result of the recent spate of burglaries, Garda Crime Prevention Officer Paul Wallace will meet with residents again on 19 July in The Chesire Apartments.
