Gardaí are investigating a kidnapping incident which occurred in Newcastle West, Co Limerick, this morning.
The incident happened just before 9am at Kelleher’s Post Office in the town.
Gardaí understand that a man who was running the post office on behalf of his family was forcibly taken from the premises by a number of people, and demands were made for money.
It is not known if the gang had weapons, but it is understood a sum of money was handed over.
The victim was found in the boot of a car in the Templegreen estate on the Dromcollogher side of the town this afternoon, and gardaí were then were informed of the incident.
The victim was traumatised, but otherwise unharmed.
Gardaí have launched an investigation and say they will be liaising with An Post as part of their inquiries.
