An investigation is under way after two viable explosive devices were discovered in Bray, Co Wicklow.
The devices, found outside a house in Ballywaltrim Heights, were made safe by the army bomb disposal team.
The team arrived at the location at 11.50pm and the scene was declared safe at 1am.
A number of people were evacuated from their houses.
The devices were removed for further examination.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Bray.
A spokesperson for the Defence Forces said there have been more than 130 call outs of the army bomb disposal team so far this year.
Sinn Féin Councillor John Brady said a number of children live in the house and the family had recently moved back to the area after their house underwent a refurbishment.
He said locals are very angry and he condemned the incident describing it as an attack on the entire community.
