One man has been arrested following the fatal shooting of a man at an apartment complex in Santry in Dublin.
Edward Flanagan, 49, from Primrose Grove, Coolock, Dublin 17 was shot on the third floor of an apartment complex: The Green, Larch Hill, Oscar Traynor Road, at around 11pm last night.
The Post Mortem has concluded that the death was a result of gunshot wounds.
A handgun was discovered close to the scene. The gun will undergo a ballistics examination at the Technical Bureau in Garda Headquarters.
Gardaí are continuing to carry out an extensive search and forensic examination of the apartment, the building in which it is located and the complex.
Local residents have expressed shock at the killing.
They said that although there had been a number of burglaries and incidents of anti-social behaviour in the area in recent times, nothing as serious as this had ever happened in the complex.
The complex is gated and has a full-time security presence.
Gardaí are investigating reports of a number of men seen running from the area.
