A man who was charged with dangerous driving after parking a cherry picker outside Leinster House on Budget Day has had the charge against him struck out.
Joe McNamara, of Dun na Carraige, Blackrock, Co Galway, was present in Dublin District Court today when Judge William Early ordered the charge be withdrawn.
The case had arisen when Mr McNamara drove a cherry picker festooned with placards up Kildare Street and parked outside Leinster House on the morning of 7 December 2010.
In a brief statement afterwards, a smiling Mr McNamara said to journalists 'no more protests'.
During the hearing his solicitor Cahir O'Higgins told the court his client appreciated the sensible approach adopted by the State in withdrawing the charges and he regretted any inconvenience and waste of State and court resources.
