The PSNI says officers have recovered a large quantity of what is believed to be bomb making equipment in South Armagh

It is understood the material was found following raids yesterday on a number of properties in the Keady area of South Armagh, on the border with Co Monaghan.

Three men were arrested during the joint Garda/PSNI investigation into dissident republican activities in the South Armagh area.

The three are being detained at the Antrim Serious Crime unit.

The PSNI has urged people to be vigilant due to fears that dissident republicans are preparing to mount attacks over the Easter holiday period.

Security checkpoints and patrols are being stepped up after the PSNI warned that more attacks were expected on police officers over the coming days.

A PSNI spokesperson said dissident groups are continuing to identify officers and target them with the objective of killing them and that members of community would also be endangered by their actions.

Separately, a 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with loyalist terrorist activity.

The PSNI said he was detained in the Donegall Road area of Belfast at around 9.30am during a planned police operation.
