Two men have appeared in court charged with assault causing harm to a Romanian man outside a shop on the North Circular Road yesterday morning.
Steven Seery from Ballyogan Vale in Carrickmines and Patrick Healy from Buttercup Park in Coolock were arrested at 3.45am yesterday in a flat on the North Circular Road and taken to store street Garda Station.
The court heard that the two men were arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice act but were released and re-arrested at 9.40pm last night and charged under section 3 with assault causing harm.
The victim of the assault underwent emergency surgery on his arm after it was almost severed in an attack by the Spar shop on the North Circular Road in Phibsboro at 1.30am yesterday morning.
His injuries have been described as serious and he remains in intensive care in the Mater Hospital.
Judge Patrick Clyne released the two men on bail to appear before Dublin District Court again on 17 June.
