Hazel Stewart, who was jailed for life for murdering her husband and her ex-lover’s wife, has applied for leave to appeal against her conviction.
The 48-year-old was convicted of murdering her husband, RUC Constable Trevor Buchanan, and Lesley Howell in 1991.
She was ordered to serve a minimum of 18 years in prison before being considered for parole.
A judge will consider if there are sufficient grounds for allowing a full appeal hearing to go ahead.
If the application is successful the appeal may be heard before the end of this year.
