An investigation is under way into a suspected arson attack on a GoSafe speed camera detection van in Co Wicklow yesterday.
Gardaí in Gorey and Arklow are searching for two men whom they believe may have been involved in the incident.
The van was parked on the Gorey Road on the old N11 just outside Arklow when it was set ablaze at around 7.30pm. No one was injured.
The van was completely destroyed and gardaí say the person inside is lucky to be alive.
The van is one of those operated around the country by a private firm on behalf of the Government.
Each van is a one-person operation.
The man inside the stationary van said he smelt burning and after he jumped out, he noticed the van was on fire.
Within minutes, the van was engulfed in flames and destroyed.
The garda investigation is being led by officers in Gorey, who say they are searching for two masked men seen near the area shortly before the incident.
Gardaí think something might have been thrown under the van to set it alight.
It is not the first time such an incident has occurred.
Last November a speed camera survey van in Dundalk, Co Louth, was attacked.
