Three people being questioned in connection with the double murder in Limerick last weekend have had their periods of detention extended.

A garda application to extend the periods of detention for two men and one woman who are being questioned in connection with last weekend's double murder was successful.

The three can now be detained for a further 48 hours

Another man has been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Two people remain in garda custody.

The bodies of Breda Waters and Des Kelly, who were in their 20s, were found at a house in Southill last Sunday morning.

Post mortem results showed both of them had been shot.
