Gardaí in Blanchardstown have renewed their appeal for information into the murder of a man in west Dublin.
A man has been arrested in connection with the killing of a man whose body was found dumped in a ditch in a field in Tyrrelstown, Dublin 15.
The man, who is in his late 30s, was arrested just after 1pm and is being questioned at Blanchardstown Garda Station.
He is being detained on suspicion of murder.
A post mortem examination on the victim is being carried out and gardaí still have to formally identify the man.
However they believe he is a 28-year-old father-of-four who was attacked and stabbed to death.
They suspect his murder is connected to the murder of another man in Finglas four-and-a-half years ago.
Gardaí believe an attempt was made to set the victim’s body on fire.
Forensic specialists from the Garda Technical Bureau conducted an examination of the scene this morning.
Gardaí are asking anyone who may have seen anything unusual or suspicious in the last seven days in the area near Bellgree Avenue or the nearby playing fields to contact them at Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01-6667000.
