A former garda has been jailed for six weeks for failing to comply with undertakings he gave to the High Court.
Kevin Galvin from Furry Park Road in Killester had said he would convert his properties in Cabra Park and Phibsborough from multi-unit to single dwellings after a fire safety officer deemed them a fire hazard.
He was sacked from An Garda Síochána earlier this year, but has brought High Court proceedings challenging the decision to dismiss him from the force.
Galvin had three properties rented out: 116 Cabra Park, 73 Cabra Park and a unit to the rear of 41 Phibsborough Road.
When fire officers inspected the premises earlier this year they said they were dangerous for anyone to live in.
Dublin City Council secured injunctions against Galvin earlier this year.
These were discharged when he gave a number of undertakings to the court and agreed to convert the properties at Cabra Park and Phibsborough Road from multi- to single-dwelling units.
However, when a fire safety officer went to inspect 73 Cabra Park last month, he found sinks, fridges and cookers in separate units there and said that it was being used as four flats and not one.
The President of the High Court last week warned Galvin of 'serious consequences' if he failed to adhere to the undertakings given by him.
