A murder investigation has been launched after a man died in hospital in Dublin after being stabbed.

The 29-year-old victim was a Polish national who had been living at an address in Naas, Co Kildare.

The man was brought to the Rotunda Hospital but was immediately transferred to the Mater Hospital.

Gardaí in Swords have appealed for people who were in the Wright Venue in Swords, Co Dublin last night and in the early hours of this morning to contact them.

The victim had been there with as many as ten people and left the club around 3am.

It is not established where the incident took place.

Gardaí are appealing to the Polish community who may have information regarding the incident to contact them at Swords Garda Station 01 666 4700.
