The body of a 33-year-old man has been removed this afternoon for a post mortem from the house in Lucan where he died.
The man, who lived with his mother, was stabbed to death at the house in Cannonbrook.
A 25-year-old man arrested at the scene is still being questioned this evening at Lucan Garda Station.
He has had his period of detention extended for a further six hours.
The scene has been preserved for a forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau and the post mortem will be carried out at Tallaght Hospital.
Gardaí are treating the case as a domestic incident.
