A University lecturer has begun a legal challenge to a finding that he sexually harassed a colleague.

Dr Dylan Evans is challenging the report of an investigation carried out by University College Cork earlier this year.

The investigation followed a complaint made by a female colleague after Dr Evans showed her an article relating to oral sex by fruit bats.

Dr Evans wants to quash the investigation's findings and he also wants to quash sanctions imposed upon him including a period of monitoring.

The case is expected to last for two days.
