The family of a 22-year-old man stabbed to death after he robbed a supermarket in Dublin two years ago have strongly criticised the five-year sentence his killer received in court today.
David Wilson, who was 19 at the time, admitted stabbing Paul Howe to death outside Supervalu in Killester in October 2008.
He apologised to the Howe family, saying he thinks about the victim every day and prays to him every night.
The Howe family said they received no justice at the Central Criminal Court today.
Mr Howe was stabbed six or seven times outside the Supervalu in Killester on 8 October 2008.
Wilson was outside drinking a can of beer waiting for a girl who was inside when he chased and killed Mr Howe.
The incident happened in less than one minute.
Mr Howe robbed €150 from the supermarket. Wilson was in the group that chased him.
When Mr Howe's knife was knocked from his hand, Wilson picked it up and stabbed him six or seven times.
When he could not get anyone to take the weapon from him, Wilson threw it in a bin.
Mr Howe was the father of a seven-year-old daughter.
