A man is due to appear at a special sitting of the district court in Newcastle West in Co Limerick tomorrow in connection with the deaths of four people at a house in the town on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday in Kilkee in Co Clare a number of hours after the bodies were discovered.
His period of questioning was suspended on Wednesday when he had to be treated at a hospital in Cork for a hand injury.
Gardaí have been in contact with the Director of Public Prosecutions, who has given directions that the man face a number of charges in connection with the deaths.
The bodies of 25-year-old Sarah Hines, her three-year-old son Reece and five-month-old daughter Amy, along with Sarah's 20-year-old friend Alicia Brough were found in the house on Tuesday. They had all been stabbed.
The funeral of Ms Brough will take place in her home village of Rockchapel in Co Cork on Monday afternoon.
