Armed raiders have escaped with an undisclosed amount of money following a cash-in-transit robbery in Co Meath this morning.

Two armed men held up a cash delivery worker outside the post office in Nobber.

He was delivering money to the post office, close to the garda station, when he was approached by the raiders who demanded the box he was carrying.

They then escaped with the cash and fled the scene in a white van. The burnt out vehicle was later found at Kilmainhamwood.

It is believed the two were met by another gang member there and escaped in a black coloured car.

No shots were fired and no one was physically injured in the incident.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information or for anyone who saw anything suspicious to come forward and contact them.
