An appeal by eighties chart-topper Shakin' Stevens against his conviction for assaulting a photographer was expected to get under way in Antrim today.
The 62-year-old was convicted in January this year of hitting a local photographer with a microphone stand during a concert at a hotel in Ballymena.
The Cardiff-born singer, whose real name is Michael Barrett, was fined £300 and ordered to pay £479 to the photographer to compensate for his smashed camera lens.
Barrett was a top selling UK male artist in the 1980s with a string of number one hits including 'Green Door' and 'This Ole House'.
