A 30-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was shot and seriously injured in Foxdene Park in west Dublin last night.
At approximately 8.30pm, a lone gunman approached him as he was getting out of a car and fired five or six shots from a handgun.
The victim was hit in the chest and neck and taken to Tallaght hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.
Gardaí have recovered the gun used in the attack.
The area has been sealed off pending a forensic examination and gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them at Ronanstown Garda Station on 01 6667700.
