Over 200 delegates from 42 different countries have been taking part in the FIAT International Federation of Television Archives event.
It is the first time the event, which is in its 34th year, has been held in Ireland and is being hosted by RTÉ.
Delegates from China, Chile, Benin, Britain and the US heard that there is a total of 37.8 million hours of content held in the world's archives.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, RTÉ Director-General Cathal Goan highlighted the importance of developing a collaborative approach to conserving archives and making content accessible.
