The French government is being urged to release emergency fuel supplies as protests against pension reforms block most oil refineries across the country.
Eight of the country's 12 mainland refineries are reported to be shutting down because of the blockades.
Hundreds of service stations are now without fuel despite the warning not to panic buy.
A further day of action is scheduled to take place on Tuesday in a week that is also likely to see the pension reform bill approved by the French parliament.
Meanwhile, 30 people were arrested during yesterday's demonstrations in Paris.
The arrests were made after a group of protestors broke windows and threw missiles at the police.
