Gardaí investigating the murder of an 18-year-old man in Dundalk Co Louth, have released three men they were questioning without charge.

Files on all three men are to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Niall Dorr died on Thursday, a day after he was attacked by a group of up to seven people in Dundalk town.

Mr Dorr was with two friends walking down Castle Road just after 9pm on Wednesday when a row broke out.

He was taken to hospital after he was assaulted in the altercation. He died on Thursday night in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

A post mortem examination was carried out in Louth County Hospital in Dundalk yesterday.

Gardaí then launched a murder investigation.
