A pipe bomb, two shot guns and ammunition have been seized by gardaí targeting the activities of dissident republicans.

Gardaí from the Special Detective Unit, assisted by local units, discovered the weapons during a search of an open area in Kiltipper, Tallaght, as part of an ongoing operation.

An Army Bomb disposal team made safe the pipe bomb.

A garda spokesman said no arrests were made and investigations are continuing.

It is the fourth such significant seizure made on both sides of the border since last Friday.

Three charged in dissident investigation

Three men arrested on Monday night by PSNI officers investigating dissident activity have been charged.

The men were detained when officers from the serious crime branch stopped and searched a car in the Cookstown area of Co Tyrone.

A fourth man, aged 30, was also arrested as part of the same operation and remains in police custody.
