Gardaí have seized a quantity of drugs in the North East, the second substantial seizure this week.

Members of the Garda National Drugs Unit backed up by Dundalk gardaí stopped a car in Blackrock, just outside the town of Dundalk earlier this evening.

During a search, they uncovered cannabis resin, with a street value of around €210,000 and a substantial amount of cash.

Three men were arrested and taken to Dundalk Garda station where they are being questioned.

The three, aged between late 20s and early 50s can be held for up to seven days.

Meanwhile, a man in his 50s is still being questioned by gardaí investigating the discovery of a cannabis factory at house in Carlow town

40 plants were found at a location near Dr Cullen Park on the outskirts of the town. Gardaí estimate the street value of the drugs seized at around €16,000.
