Rebecca French - Two deny murder

The prosecution has opened its case in the trial of two men accused of murdering Rebecca French at Ballindinas, Barntown, Co Wexford.

Ruslanus Minekas and Ricardus Dilys deny the murder of the 30-year-old on 9 October 2009.

The jury has been told they will hear evidence of how Ms French died from blunt force trauma to the head, how her body was damaged because she had been placed in the boot of her car and her car was set on fire.

The State Pathologist will detail how the victim had a blue plastic bag over her head and a cable fastened around her neck.

Dr Marie Cassidy will say that Ms French had injuries consistent with kicks of a stamping kind and injuries to her skull.

It is the prosecution's case that Mr Dilys used a golf club to inflict blows to the back of Ms French's head and that Mr Minekas kicked Ms French when she was in a defenceless position.

The prosecution will say the two men carried out the actions, aware of the other's actions, which resulted in injuries and the death of Ms French.
