Gardaí have launched an investigation following the death of a 73-year-old man in Co Cavan.
The victim was assaulted in his home in Nedd, Doogary, Killeshandra on 7 September.
He was brought to Cavan General Hospital where he died this evening.
A man was arrested on 11 September in connection with the assault but was later released without charge.
Gardaí have appealed for information from any witnesses that may have been in the vicinity of Nedd, Doogary between 8pm on Monday 6 September and 11am on Tuesday 7 September.
