Two men have been charged in connection with an incident in which an 11-year-old girl received serious burns in Longford on Thursday night.
Martin Nevin, 21, and Michael Stokes, 21, both from Longford appeared at a special sitting of the District Court in Longford today.
They were charged with criminal damage and committing arson at Pauric Colum Heights in Longford between 30 September and 1 October.
Judge Conall Gibbons refused a bail application for Mr Nevin and remanded him in custody to appear again at Castlerea District Court on Friday.
Despite objections from gardaí, Judge Gibbons remanded Michael Stokes in custody with consent to bail to appear again at the same court next Friday.
The girl who was injured in the fire is in a stable condition at Our Lady's Children's Hospital in Crumlin.
Gardaí have released two men who were being questioned in relation to the arson attack.
A file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions. Gardaí say their investigation is continuing.
