A priest in Co Down has voluntarily agreed to relinquish his pastoral duties, while a complaint made against him is being investigated.
A spokesperson for the Diocese of Down and Connor has confirmed that allegations ‘in relation to child safeguarding’ have been made against a priest.
The complaint dates back to the 1980s.
The spokesperson for the diocese said the priest denies the allegations, but will co-operate fully with the investigation.
