A jury at the inquest into the death of Shaun Duffy at his home in Meenacross near Dungloe, Co Donegal, in January 2005 has returned a unanimous verdict of unlawful killing.
It also said in accordance with medical evidence from Deputy State Pathologist Michael Curtis that the cause of death was multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma to the head.
Supt Michael Finan said the investigation into the death is ongoing and will remain so.
‘We are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry with this inquest bringing the matter back into the public domain.
‘We would again to appeal to anyone with information about the death of Shaun Duffy to contact Glenties Garda Station or contact the Garda Confidential Line.’
The Duffy family said they welcomed the verdict and said they were content with it.
